Many have watched this project unfold, and all would agree there has been a high level of anticipation and wonder as this building has literally been picked up by crane and moved to a new elevated platform, which overlooks the Kaiapoi River. Many locals turned out in the early hours of the morning to watch in amazement as the historic railroad building was flown to her new riverside position. The Café's picturesque views are now uninterrupted by the banks of the river and the building is now integrated into the riverscape for patrons to enjoy.
We were invited to direct the exterior look of the building, including paint colours, lighting details, awnings, and interior finishes to enhance the Parisienne style of the Café. We love how our selection of the black and white striped awning perfectly embodies the European bistro dining experience.
The outdoor festoon lighting and elegant lanterns also help set the Parisienne scene and take you on a journey as you make your way up the winding and wheelchair accessible ramp. The building was transformed with Dulux Double Haast for the main part of the building and Dulux Mount Aspiring used as a highlight to accentuate some of the intricate building details and Dulux Black to provide a true French feeling to the entry doors. The result is fresh and works harmoniously with the distinctive red roof tiling.
We introduced the gorgeous outdoor Gazebo to maximise the riverside café experience and the craftmanship and detailing by Hazeldine Construction is outstanding. It is now such a wonderful place to sip your latte and watch the River Queen moored upon the river.
Outdoor planting has been introduced to define dining areas and integrate the building into her new riverside position and provide a feeling of permanence - it's almost like she has always been situated there.
Paris For The Weekend went through such an exciting transformation and this Café is a wonderful asset to the Kaiapoi Riverbank and community. We hope you pop in soon to experience it for yourself and see the lovely team for a delicious cheese scone. We tried and tested them for ourselves are they are indeed as good as everyone says.
