The Weekly Seven

Hello Sunday! This week we are talking about some of my favourite sustainable and thoughtful products, plus the number #1 reason to use an Interior Designer - It's not what you might think!

1.   Boråstapeter Wallpaper

Responsibility for the environment and a life cycle approach to sustainability are at the heart of what Boråstapeter do. An all-encompassing view of the environmental performance means commitment to reducing the carbon footprint, complying with all relevant legislation and regulations and developing more ways to contribute to a greener and better world. Sustainability at every stage is the promise Boråstapeter is making. We love their environmental commitment and the timelessness of their wallpaper prints.

2. Renew Fabric

Warwick believe we all have a responsibility to reduce our impact on the environment. RENEW fabrics give our post consumer waste a new life and diverts it from disposal into landfill and our oceans.

RENEW eco-friendly textiles are sustainable and functional while being kind on the earth.

RENEW is the perfect choice where quality, performance and low environmental impact matter.

This sumptuous & strong fabric is made from 70% recycled wool sourced from clothing and other re-use textiles.

 3. Your Budgeting Personality

Are you a spread sheet and budgeting genius or an eternal optimist when it comes to budgeting for your dream home? Do you budget at all or just wing-it and hope for the best? Your budget style will dramatically impact how stressed or in-control you feel during the planning and building phase of you project. Take a look at our Budget Personalities and let us know who you identify with most!

 4. Beautiful Wool Rugs

Using only the highest quality and New Zealand and Himalayan Wool, this texturally rich woollen rug range from Nodi is incredibly soft underfoot, bringing character and warmth to any living space. These 100% pure wool rugs are combed by hand, and then twisted using traditional spinning wheels. Wool is renewable and harvested sustainably. There are many benefits for using pure wool rugs. Wool is naturally non-allergenic making it a great option for those suffering from asthma. The fibres naturally absorb and filter unwanted toxins and irritating odours. Contact us today if you want to see our gorgeous range of Nodi samples in the showroom.

 5. Supporting Local

We think it is important for you to know who you are supporting when you work with us. We are proudly a women-owned business and we are a team of 6 amazing women. Our combined skills are what make us unique and we love to keep our manufacturing processes local. We have our own boutique workroom for customising your soft furnishings and collaborate with many small New Zealand businesses. We always appreciate when you decide to shop local and support women in business!

 6. #1 Reason to use a Designer

An Interior Designer Isn't here to spend all your money as some might believe. Our goal is actually to be more efficient with your budget and spend money in the right places and save in others. A good designer can help you decide the best way to maximise your budget, we can also get trade discounts that help keep your spending on track. Overall, the process will be more streamlined with an experienced designer who has the knowledge and connections to save you money in the long run! Win, win!!

 7. A Moment to Breathe

Doesn't it feel like the year is racing away? The economy is tough, balancing career with school holidays is a juggle! Add winter weather and it can all feel a little overwhelming! Something I am trying to practice is a technique to bring energy to the day by pausing for half a minute between switching tasks and breathing some deep long breaths to exhale and release the tension from that task and then take a breath to release energy and intention into the next task (a tip gleaned from a book I am reading called 'High Performance Habits'). Do you have any tips for keeping up your energy and releasing stress during the day? I'm all for it!
