Minimalist Christmas Ideas

This time of year, life can feel quite chaotic, and the pressure can really be on in all areas. Kid's end of year activities, work events, projects are winding up and holidays need to be planned. Christmas is looming in the background and the relatives are coming to stay. Throw in the pressure of hosting Christmas and it can all start to feel A LOT!!

The one tip I have for keeping the stress levels at bay is to keep things simple. That goes for Christmas decorating, food and drinks. I love quick recipes and simple is often the most effective when it comes to home decor too.

Nothing is worse than feeling pressured to have things too perfect. Here are some simple ideas you can put together with minimal stress, but oh do they deliver all the Christmas spirit!

1. CANDLES

It's amazing what a little scented candlelight can do for creating joy and feelings of festivity. Classic candle sticks can be dressed up with a little creativity. How divine are these beautiful stems submerged in water, with simple candle sticks on top? Simple, elegant and effective!

2. FRESH FLOWERS

Nothing brings the summer joy than some fresh, fragrant flowers in the centre of a table. Red, green and white always looks classic for Christmas and keeping to a limited colour palette looks elevated and considered! Minimal time and maximum impact. Yes please!!

3. RIBBONS

We are seeing a lot of creative ideas with ribbons this year. Ribbons on trees and banisters and wreaths. So easy, vibrant and charming. Get creative tying bows from your fabric collection - a mixed array of sizes is just fine.  Easy-peasy and oh-so pretty!!

4. SIMPLE FOOD

You can be your most relaxed self when you don't feel overly stressed with the food and drinks. Simple platters are the way to go for Christmas catch-ups and drinks. Think baked camembert and crackers or simple seasonal fruits and cheeses with a few edible flowers or fresh herbs for greenery. Voilà!

5. FAIRY LIGHTS

I have said it before - you can never have too many fairy lights! They are so impactful and easy. Fairy light trees or simple strings hung in creative ways can bring a lot of Christmas joy to those young and old. I love fairy light stems in a vase and we bring them out time and time again for simple, stress-free decorating.  Fairy lights always look magical!

6. KNOTTED NAPKINS

No time for ironing napkins? Simply knot and they are good to go. How lovely does this look for a simple table setting for Christmas? Stylish and effortless all in one! Reduce the stress and keep things minimalist and playful and see how much more fun you have this year!

7. PLAYFUL DRINKS

We love to get creative with our cocktail recipes but you can also stick to the basics. Decorate your drinks with fresh seasonal herbs and colourful candy striped straws for a Christmas spin. So cheerful and considered. There you have it! Some simple and stress-free decorating ideas for those of you who are feeling a little time-poor this time of year.... Aren't we all?
