The Weekly Edit

There's something so nostalgic about the sound of rain on the roof! I've found myself appreciating these forced-slow moments at home and there is nothing like snuggling under the covers while it storms outside. This weather reminds us how our spaces need to adapt to nature's rhythms - (I’m looking at you wet gumboots and umbrellas!)

This week's Edit explores how we can embrace these grey-sky days, turning them into opportunities for both creativity and comfort. Our Design Detective series returns with pattern play inspiration that might just have you looking at your rainy windows in a whole new light! Grab your favorite warm drink, get cozy, and scroll through for some rainy-day design wisdom.

P.S. Anyone else's kids suddenly become master meteorologists during wet weather? Annabelle has at least three apps she follows for up-to-the-minute weather details!

1. Rain and Refuge

There's something magical about the pitter-patter of rain against windows - a rhythm that turns our homes into cozy sanctuaries. This week, we're exploring how these grey skies are actually gifting us the perfect excuse to fall in love with our interiors all over again.

We're noticing how soft, layered lighting can transform a gloomy day into a haven of warmth, and how textured throws and cushions become more than just accessories - they become your invitation to linger longer in your favorite spaces. As the rain creates its natural melody outside, we're discovering how each room can tell its own story of comfort and connection through thoughtful design touches. Because sometimes, the most beautiful moments happen when we're forced to slow down and look within, discovering that our homes have been quietly nurturing us all along.

2. Inside Style

At Feather & Oak, we believe every grey and rainy day is an opportunity to create something beautiful inside! Whether it's rearranging your favorite sideboard, or finally planning that renovation you've been dreaming of, we're here to help transform your indoor days into design adventures. Who says rainy days are for Netflix binges only? (Though we won't judge if you're planning your room makeover with a cookie in hand!)

Our styling consultations are like having a friend over for a cozy chat - just with expert design advice thrown in. And if this weather has you dreaming bigger, our Dream Home Academy is your perfect rainy-day companion for turning those Pinterest boards into real-life spaces.

 3. Design Detective

Calling all pattern enthusiasts! While the rain taps its own rhythm outside, let's solve another design mystery inside. Our case today: The Secret Art of Pattern Placement.

Ever wondered why some rooms feel perfectly balanced while others seem a bit... chaotic? The answer often lies in the strategic placement of patterns. Just like raindrops creating natural patterns on our windows, interior patterns need their own thoughtful choreography to create harmony in a space. Think of it as conducting an orchestra - each pattern plays its own unique role, from the bold lead performer to the subtle supporting acts.

Want to crack the case? Book a styling consultation and we'll show you how to become a pattern pro in your own space!

4. Katy's Mini Edit

Loving for 2025

The return to school routines (hello quiet house!) and using these rainy indoor moments to catch up on business planning. There's something relaxing about hearing the pitter-patter while sketching out new ideas.

Design Tip

Don't overlook your garage this winter! Create a stylish yet functional 'wet weather station' with designated spots for gumboots, umbrellas, and sports gear. A well-organized entry point makes rainy days so much easier (and prettier!) to handle.

Excited About...

An exciting new project where we're pushing creative boundaries! We're pairing the most gorgeous patterned wallpaper with a soft green paint on the trim, doors, and ceiling. When a client trusts us to fully embrace color and pattern, magic happens. Can't wait to share more as it unfolds!
