The Weekly Seven

Hello Sunday! Here are some of my favourite things this week. Let's look at some luxurious winter colours as we head into June and King's Birthday weekend!

1.   Strates Fabric

This fabric is a stylised ornamental design. The fluid movement and lines of Gustav reference the artist Gustav Klimt, an important artist of the Vienna Secession movement. For the lovers of autumnal tones this fabric would make stunning cushions and a fabulous feature headboard.

2. In The Oak Wallpaper

With a midnight blue background and luscious dark green design, our In the Oak wallpaper, cannot help but bring a fresh and lively spirit to its surrounding space.  3. Cosy & Luxe Fabrics

This time of year we are all about creating warmth within our homes. We can do this in many ways, but the right fabric and lining combination is the perfect way to enhance cosiness. Emma's fabric pick this week was a beautiful, embellished fabric by Jane Churchill. So luxurious for that special primary bedroom. Interlining this gorgeous fabric with a fluffy inner "bumpf" lining will create the ultimate in warmth and add to the glamorous overall effect!

 4. Design Tip

Let's chat paint colours! There's white and then there are 550 shades of white!! Where do you begin?

Everyone will tell you something different about where to start on the design journey. Do you start with your wall colour first or your curtain fabric? My advice is to always work with the areas that have the largest real estate in the room and the least choice - for example your flooring and curtain or blind fabrics if you have large windows as you will end up with walls of fabric when the curtains are drawn in the evening. As there are 1000's of paint colours we will always be able to find one to match - or we can always create our own!!

 5. Your curtain Personality

 Your Interior should reflect your own personal style. When selecting the perfect curtain fabric you can let your personality shine through! Would you call yourself bold and daring? Then maybe a plush graphic velvet would suit your personality and home. Do you lean to the softer and quieter side then maybe delicate floral would speak to you.  7. Queenstown Light Festival

I quickly shot down to Queenstown for the night (after a very circuitous route via Auckland - argh!!!) on Thursday to attend Luma - an outdoor light festival. Although it absolutely poured down, it was absolutely amazing and I thoroughly recommend attending if you get the chance (it's run annually on King's Birthday Weekend). Located in the Queenstown Gardens you weave through the trees finding all sorts of unexpected and magical sights like two-storey high lava lamps and a magical mirror that lights up as it senses movement.
